Marco Island Rocks Concert 2020

Search homes for sale in the Naples/Marco Island areaFor this first Island Rocks Concert of 2020, Naples’ own Sarah Hadeka and the Bruce Springsteen tribute band “The Boss Band” perform live for the public. Veterans Community Park is situated at Park Ave and W Elkcam Dr. You won’t find any seating at the park itself. So, bring lawn chairs and/or blankets from home for your comfort. Unfortunately, you must leave your coolers at home as well. However, on-site food vendors provide all you need to eat and drink while the concert takes place. The next Island Rocks Concert in this year’s concert series takes place on April 4th.

Marco Island’s 2020 Winter Concert Series

If you want the experience of the Island Rocks Concert to continue for a while longer, consider attending the City’s Winter Concert Series. It takes place at Mackle Park every Sunday through March 29th from 2 pm to 4 pm. They also offer this event absolutely free of charge. Each Sunday, one of four local bands perform. Ferguson and Rogers, Naples New Horizons, Marco Big Band, and Bob Smith & Friends alternate weekends. Naples Big Band performs just once for this series: on March 1st. For a complete schedule of the bands, visit the City of Marco Island’s Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

In just over two weeks from today, we bid adieu to 2019 and welcome in 2020. How will you spend it? Enjoy a little pre-midnight festivities by watching some fireworks over the Naples Pier. Meant to be a family-friendly affair, bring the kids with you. Watch for the “no parking” signs around the pier. Local police strongly enforce these. You wouldn’t want to start the new year off with a ticket, would you? Stick to public parking lots (3rd St S and 5th Ave S) to avoid parking tickets. And, please, stay away from private properties and driveways without the owner’s permission.

Naples Winter Restaurant Week 2019 is going on right now thru Dec 15th at participating Naples, Marco Island, Fort Meyers, Cape Coral, and Bonita Springs restaurants.

Naples Winter Restaurant Week 2019

Search homes for sale in the Naples/Marco Island areaWinter Sizzle actually takes place in Naples, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers, and Cape Coral. And it actually transpires over the course of two weeks, not one. The majority of the more than five dozen restaurants participating in Winter Sizzle operate out of Naples. But, no matter where you reside in the area, I’m sure there’s a restaurant near you to check out.

How Does it Work?

First, visit the SWFL Restaurant Week’s website to find the restaurant(s) you want to visit. Then, contact that restaurant to reserve your table during this 14-day event. If you’ve participated in any previous restaurant weeks in the area before, you know how busy these restaurants get. So, definitely call ahead. Each restaurant offers pre-fixed lunch menus ($16 to $21) and/or dinner menus ($26 to $36) with specials not found on their regular menus. If you’ve always wanted to try a particular restaurant before, now is the time!

Dining With a Purpose

What makes these restaurants different from others in the Naples/Marco Island area? Well, when you visit one during the Winter Sizzle event, $1 from each meal benefits the SWFL’s FGCU Food and Beverage Scholarship. This scholarship awards money to students who seek education in the food and beverage industry.

Shopping builds up an appetite. For sustenance, make your reservation at one of our fine local restaurants participating in Winter Sizzle SWFL Restaurant Week 2019. Dining with a purpose never tasted so good.

International Coastal Cleanup 2019 Along Naples & Marco Island Beaches

Our Southwest Florida coastline is valuable real estate in more ways than one. Besides actual home values, these beaches provide a place for the area’s natural flora and fauna to flourish. It also provides endless hours of entertainment for our loved ones. We need to keep it clean and free from debris that might wash out into the ocean and harm the creatures living there. You can help by joining the International Coastal Cleanup 2019 along Naples, Marco Island, and Everglade City beaches this weekend.

Help keep our Southwest Florida beaches clean and our ocean water safe from harmful trash at the International Coastal Cleanup 2019 in Naples, Marco Island & Everglades City.

International Coastal Cleanup 2019

Search homes for sale in the Naples/Marco Island areaBack in 1986, two women working for the Ocean Conservancy (Linda Maraniss and Kathy O’Hara) spoke with the Texas General Land Office about organizing volunteers to clean up their local beach. But instead of just picking up trash, they wanted to catalog every piece of trash and where it was found. They believed this would help them find ways to reduce and/or eliminate future ocean waste.

This idea quickly caught on. It eventually grabbed the attention of countries around the world. Today, dozens of countries and hundreds of coastal cities around the country participate in a coastal cleanup.

How to Join In

One way to participate in the coastal cleanup is to simply show up at any of the beaches listed below before 8 am on Saturday, September 21st. Make sure you wear sunscreen, a hat, and glasses to protect yourself from the sun. Bring a bottle of water with you to stay hydrated. If you have a large group of at least 10 people (boy/girl scouts, co-workers, clubs or organizations), you need to pre-register. To do so, contact Keep Collier Beautiful at (239) 580-8319 or via email. With only a few days left, you need to contact them right away.
