Naples Named Happiest and Healthiest City in the USA…Again

Orlando may house one of the happiest places on earth. But the healthiest? Not so much. This comes as no shock to anyone who lives here, but Naples/Immokalee/Marco Island made it to the top of the “Happiest and Healthiest Cities in the USA”…again. That makes two years in a row that our Naples community ranked #1 on the Well-Being Index. Should we tell people why?

For the second year in a row, our Naples community ranked #1 on the "Happiest and Healthiest Cities in the US" list, according to a report by Gallup-Sharecare.

Earlier this year, Gallup-Sharecare released their 2016 Community Well Being Rankings. They looked at almost 200 cities across the United States to determine who was the happiest and healthiest. They polled citizens of each city to find out how they felt about their community in general, how strong their social ties were with others, their financial security, their physical well-being, and whether they felt a sense of purpose in being a part of their community. For Naples, this was a no-brainer. We’re extremely proud of how well our community rallies around each other, especially in times of need. Art and nature both play a large part of life here. And our local economy thrives thanks to its support of small businesses in the area.

The only other Florida community to be named in the top 10 was Sarasota. Seven California cities made the top 25, by far the most of any state in the US. We are only one of three cities to make it in the top 10 “happiest and healthiest” since Gallup began their list almost 10 years ago. Boulder, CO and Provo, UT share this honor with us.

Top 10 Happiest & Healthiest Cities in the US (according to Gallup-Sharecare)

  1. Naples/Immokalee/Marco Island, FL
  2. Barnstable Town, MA
  3. Santa Cruz/Watsonville, CA
  4. Urban Honolulu, HI
  5. Charlottesville, VA
  6. North Port/Sarasota/Bradenton, FL
  7. San Luis Obispo/Paso Robles/Arroyo Grande, CA
  8. Lynchburg, VA
  9. Hilton Head Island/Buffton/Beaufort, SC
  10. Boulder, CO

Do you think we can make the list for an unprecedented third time in a row next year? We’ll find out when they release their results in the spring of 2018. I feel pretty confident. Do you?
